1On November 21, during a panel discussion at the 5th Ukrainian Construction Congress, the CEO of the construction company Rauta spoke about the environmental, social and corporate responsibility of business.
Andriy Ozeychuk emphasized that for a construction company, adherence to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles improves its reputation, simplifies attracting investments, and provides a competitive advantage in working with international customers.
“In projects implemented by Rauta, we always use solutions that comply with ESG principles, for example, air-tight technology or Energy series sandwich panels, which reduce operational carbon and increase the sustainability of the building,” said Andriy Ozeychuk. – In 2022, Rauta was the first in Ukraine to implement Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) on sandwich panels and ventilated façade claddings. We actively participate in social projects: we are a partner of the Steel Freedom architectural competition, we provide grants for training young architects at the InLab and PLUS MINUS schools, we installed a training stand in the specialized energy saving classroom of the KNUCA, and we launched an educational project on sustainable design.
The speaker forecasted that in 2026 Rauta plans to introduce sandwich panels, ventilated façade claddings and roofing materials made of “green” steel to the Ukrainian market, the production of which uses hydrogen, electricity and biogas instead of fossil fuels. The residual product of such a production process is not carbon dioxide, but water. The use of these products will significantly reduce the amount of embodied carbon and increase the number of points when certifying a building according to the LEED and BREEAM environmental systems.
