Ruukki sandwich panels were used in construction of the first BREEAM-certified food warehouse in Ukraine

The warehouse with a height of 15 m and 5,200 pallet spaces has 18 temperature zones that cover the temperature range from -30℃ to +24℃, which allows storing products of various categories. “For walls constructing were used the most contemporary in Ukraine Ruukki sandwich panels that ensure inner temperature inside of the main storage does not fall below the specified 15 degrees in winter, and does not rise above 20 degrees in summer,” said Kostyantyn Parshin, NOVUS store chain head of the operational logistics department. The sandwich panels of Energy series ensured the highest tightness of the building up to q₅₀ = 0.01 m³/h∙m² and the thermal resistance of the envelope structures up to R = 7.47 (m²∙K)/W.

Using modern energy-efficient materials and solutions allowed NOVUS to pass certification according to the British method of assessing the environmental efficiency of sustainable buildings and to become the first in Ukraine to receive the BREEAM certificate for a food logistics terminal.

“Especially for the NOVUS warehouse, Rauta specialists developed shop drawings of wall and ceiling structures with unique joints, which made it possible to maximize the air-tightness of the building and, in the long term, to ensure significant savings in operating costs,” said Andriy Ozeychuk, CEO of Rauta.
