In an interview with the specialized magazine KAPstroitelstvo, the Rauta director spoke about the trends on the Ukrainian steel structures market.
According to Andriy Ozeychuk, the volume of the Ukrainian market of constructional steel structures in 2019 amounted to 135 thousand tons. At the same time, the share of large manufacturers of steel structures with higher product quality increased. Due to recent hot-rolled products cost reduction by 18-22%, steel structures have become even more competitive compared to reinforced concrete. The main consumers of steel structures for construction purposes remained the industrial, warehouse and retail real estate, and the consumption of LGSF in the segment of solar power plants over the year increased by more than 3 times.
“Over the past few years, the Ukrainian construction market of has been developing and adopting the best experience of the EU, so customers are becoming more demanding on the quality of design, production and installation of steel structures,” said Andriy Ozeychuk. “Since most of the new Ukrainian industrial buildings are most often equipped with imported equipment, the technological steel structures of such facilities are designed according to Eurocodes and produced in accordance with EN requirements.”
Sharing his vision of market development in 2020, the Rauta director said that this year economists forecast a decrease in GDP in Ukraine by 7-9%, which could lead to a drop in the construction market by 15-30%. “The experience of previous crises shows that a lot of cheap low-quality products can appear on the market, which in the future will lead to problems during the buildings operation. Despite a significant increase in competition, Rauta does not compromise on quality issues and offers only reliable steel structures, sandwich panels and ventilated facades that allow to build the most energy-efficient and durable prefabricated buildings, ”concluded Andriy Ozeychuk.
